Menopausal help from nature:

Red Clover....contains all four isoflavones that make up the estrogen component..this is  very good herb for estrogen supplementation...it is cheaper than others and you can drink it as a tea as well if you don't like taking capsules.  Amount has to be adjusted for each person.

Black Cohosh - helps breathing, helps synergize estrogen production

Buy a good progesterone cream at the health food store...or make your own with wild yam...added to a non allergenic lotion....Progesterone is even more important than estrogen at this time..especially for your bones...

It is important to add more fish if you can to your diet and natural oils...like from avocado and flaxseed...as they help lower your risk of heart attack....there are good oils and bad oils...see the page on Olive Oil
Fish is the easiest way to get your Vit. E and good oils. Good oils actually help your cholesterol levels if you don't abuse them. BE careful about using cold pressed oils instead of just any old processed oil....cold pressed virgin olive oil is best as it has the good type of oil.  DO NOT use regular canola oil.  You can also get combination omega oils at the health food store - especially if you don't like fish that much.

B6    50 mg    3x/day (pyridoxine - minimizes water retention and eases symptoms)

Calcium  2000 mg daily...relieves nervousness and night leg cramping
Take half at night an hour before going to bed
Magnesium - 1000 mg daily

Milk Thistle for a month,  once a year ....detoxifies your liver from pollutants/ toxins, alcohol effects.  At the same time once a year only eat salads...this alone will detoxify your liver but use dark green lettuce like romaine, spinach, red leaf lettuce, etc.

Soybeans, chickpeas....other cultures eat these and they are a natural source of estrogens... ( there is no word in Japanese for hot flashes )
There is some evidence that soymilk, due to processing can cause
thyroid problems in some women.

Vitamin C....250 mg.....4 X a day during hard hot flash times...or just eat lots of fruits

Apples have a rich source of  BORON which is needed for calcium retention
Newer vitamin combinations now add boron for women.  Look for it on the label of what you are taking for a vitamin.

Ginseng w/gotu kola  relieves depression, & helps in estrogen production, and energy.

Eliminate caffeine....increases estrogen loss and nervousness.
If you like coffee, and can't bear to part, drink NATURALLY decaffinated.
Coffee and cocoa (natural) are great antioxidents really,
but caffeine in coffee, will trigger constriction of blood vessels, not good for your heart.

Some recommend to eliminate dairy, white sugar, and decrease intake of red meat.
I do eat yogurt, and occassionally cheese that is not orange, or goat cheese.  You can use honey instead of sugar.  You can substitute with natural tupulo honey....honey has the added benefit if not processes too much of helping allergies...2 tablespoons of honey...made in your own area will help desensitize you to plants you may be allergic to.  Stevia is a new sugar substitute approved on the anti cancer diet and the alkaline diet...and safe thus far reported.

Eat in smaller amounts , several times per day besides meals...so 5-6 times a day versus 3 large meals...
